Day 226: Crazy days

August 14, 2007

This will be the shortest entry ever as I am like a walking zombie. I am currently sitting in Starbucks paying extortionate internet access charges, and I am so tired that I can barely speak in coherent words- never mind sentences. The short version of today’s events is that we are moved into the new house, minus the frozen food in the freezer of the old house which I’ll pick up in the morning. The good news is that Baby A really liked her new room which we threw together in the Reality-TV-stylee in about an hour and a half this afternoon. She was so keen to go to bed with all her soft toys that she declined to have a story read, for the first time since she could speak. She also seemed not to notice that dinner was made up pretty much of Goldfish crackers and that she didn’t have a bath, use the potty or brush her teeth.

Speaking of dinner, we made Chicken and Sweet Potato Curry-in-a-Hurry [recipe] in a comic fashion frantically finding things in paper bags and tearing open boxes in frustration looking for the pans. The new cooking device works as well as can be expected- not exactly cooking with gas. Anyway, I really need to get home and go to bed, so the upshot is- reasonable curry, remarkably like one we’ve had before sometime this year. The cream + mango chutney + curry paste is passable but not remarkable, we may have overdone it with the curry paste. The sweet potatoes are a nice addition. I have to confess we used microwavable rice- hopefully we’ll be back up to authentic form tomorrow. Our neighbour also brought us dinner tonight- curry, wouldn’t you guess- it was very tasty, maybe even better than ours…

Anyway, tomorrow we will get organised and will end the day with Eggplant, Mushroom, and Sweet Potato Indian-Spiced Stoup.

Sounds like some stress goin’ on there. Darn this One Year Project – you could’ve just done take-out and given yourself a break! 🙂

I hope things calm down for you soon.

The meal today looks very thick!
