This evening we made Pork Loin Chops with Golden Delicious Apples and Onions on Polenta with Honey, which was quick, easy and very tasty. The apple and onion mixture was sautéed in olive, with butter, thyme and a splash of brandy added. The pork chops were simply seasoned and thrown on the skillet. The polenta was a little disconcerting; the honey and salt combined with the grainy consistency was very reminiscent of porridge or oatmeal. It wasn’t bad though, and we both found it to be much more pleasant than many of the polenta meals we have had to date. I never thought I’d say it about any foodstuff, but I think that polenta is definitely better without added cheese. A very pleasant meal all in all, something that you’d be happy to order in a restaurant. Quality. Easy. Good.
We still haven’t made a decision about the Rachael Ray book signing. It might just be ridiculously embarrassing- like Hi we cook from your book every day, and we write about it online. But we’re not stalkers or anything… It would be good to get our very, very well used copy of The Book autographed, that would be a funny end to the year. We wondered about asking someone else to tell her about our project, which might be equally lame. I don’t know, I’m sure we’ll decide nearer the time.
Posts here are short as Baby N has been/ is being very fussy in the evenings. We are trying to become Baby Whispers, but mysteriously she has her own ideas. Maybe we should eat and post much earlier in the day, when she is either asleep or all coos and new smiles. Unfortunately the shouting makes it difficult to concentrate so I will leave you with the promise of a report tomorrow on Creamy Chicken and Asparagus on Toast.
